There are tons of software online claiming to help teachers and parents alike in educating their children. Classroom teaching has gone from the traditional methods of pen and paper to something more technologically advanced, like e-learning and the like.
Most problems with professional media tools like Adobe Flash is that there is a steep learning curve to achieving that level of professionalism. Children in primary schools usually do not have the capacity to understand such high levels and in-depth knowledge of technological know-hows, and teachers often do not have the time to learn these softwares.
The teachers from Tampines North Primary School were very pleased to see that their students are learning a new ebook software technology called KooBits. They were greatly interested in the software and agreed that it could be a useful educational tool to supplement the students' education and learning, not to mention spark their creativity.
KooBits is an ebook software that allows you to blend a wide range of multimedia content you can find in the market. It fuses the different forms of multimedia such as 3D graphics, animation, audio, recordings, videos and so on onto a single platform seamlessly. This reduces the learning curve of creating a multimedia content. Even a primary school student, without much IT background, can create fantastic multimedia content within a short period of time.
In a particular primary school, its Head of Department of IT said that KooBits is used by all the four language departments to enhance the pupils' composition writings skills. Pupils are now more motivated , interested and involved in writing composition, especially with the multi-media features of the tool. As a result, these language teachers can focus on helping students to create the content of their ebooks, rather than teaching the technology that was meant as a learning tool, and not the end product itself.
Indeed, KooBits have helped the lives of those students from Tampines North Primary School, not to mention their teachers. We hope to be the very tool to catapult learning and teaching in schools, and be the bridge between creativity and technology. What is currently happening in Tampines North Primary School is by far a promising start!
