offers, teachers of Canossa Convent Primary School are now able to present more interesting and interactive lessons. In the past, teachers had to trawl through the internet to gather relevant resources. However, with KooBits, it offers an extensive range of resources that covers many categories. These categories include people, background and nature that can be used in many subjects.

Not only do teachers benefit from the wide range of resources available, students also felt that they came in handy when they were doing their projects. On top of that, KooBits’s ability to act as a multimedia platform helped students to fully express their creativity. They were no longer confined to including resources from a single source. Among the multimedia tools they could use was voice recording. Students could pre-record their stories and match it against their e-book. This promotes cooperation among students which is one of the goals of the InfoCommunication and technology (ICT) department in Canossa Convent Primary School.

The convent school, located in Salim Road hopes to integrate KooBits into more of the subjects taught. Besides helping teachers in textbook based subjects like Mathematics, science and Mother Tongue, the school also hopes to diversify the use of this e-book technology in other subjects. This includes music and arts and craft. Using this software, students will be able to fully express their creativity with the huge number of possibilities.

For now, teachers of Canossa Convent are pleased with how user friendly this e-book software is.
class="MsoNormal">At Bukit Panjang Primary School (BPPS), students are encouraged to appreciate aesthetics in art and music using technology. With the help of KooBits, the school has successfully been able to achieve this aim.

What KooBits enables students to do is put together several multimedia tools to create their very own digital e-book. Students find this particularly useful as they are able to explore many mediums to present their work. They are also able to display their individual style and pushed to think from different angles. Teachers also recommend this e-book software as a teaching tool to give a more broad based perspective on each subject. They also noticed a hike in students’ interest when they taught their lessons using this media.

Whilst other softwares might be focused on certain subjects, KooBits can be used on all subjects in school. For example, students using this software can come up with scrapbooks and collages. Therefore, students can use this software to come up with scrapbooks after an educational trip. The myriad of resources available in the programme is particularly useful for students to come up with creative content.

The multi uses of KooBits has pushed Bukit Panjang Primary School to explore even more uses for this software. It comes with a huge teacher's resources that includes any images of animals, plants , characters and more. However, we are not complete with that yet and I shall explain why.

I was trying to create an ebook about bamboo blinds the other day. Would that be possible with Koobits?

I think we got the technology but we need business cases now. Classroom teaching has gone from the traditional methods of pen and paper to something more technologically advanced, like e-learning and the like.

Most problems with professional media tools like Adobe Photoshop is that there is a steep learning curve to achieving that level of professionalism. Children in primary schools usually do not have the capacity to grasp such immense and in-depth knowledge of technological know-hows, and teachers often do not have the time to learn these softwares.

The teachers from Montfort Junior School were very contented to see that their students are learning a new ebook software technology called KooBits. They were greatly interested in the software and agreed that it could be a useful publishing tool to supplement the students' education and learning, not to mention spark their creativity.

KooBits is a multimedia platform where users, students and teachers alike, can take bits and pieces of digital media and put it into one single commonplace, as a creation that they can call their own. Many primary schools have started using KooBits as a ebook creation tool to enhance learning and exercise creativity amongst the students. KooBits is not only used to teach English, but other languages like Malay, Chinese and Tamil as well, as it is equipped with a Chinese and Tamil keyboard that recognizes the respective characters.

In a particular primary school, its Head of Department of IT said that KooBits is used by all the four language departments to enhance the pupils' composition writings skills. Pupils are now more motivated , interested and involved in writing composition, especially with the multi-media features of the tool. As a result, these language teachers can concentrate on helping students to create the content of their ebooks, rather than teaching the technology that was meant as a learning tool, and not the end product itself.

Singapore Schools , not to mention the Ministry of Education also hopes to empower educators to try using different approaches with IT to develop our active students to be strategic learners who actively explore problems independently and collaboratively. On top of that, they should be able to express their creative ideas through the creation of products. IT will be harnessed to facilitate the analysis of information, investigation, problem solving and independent learning. All of which, KooBits can and will help them achieve through its fun, interactive and engaging.

Indeed, KooBits have helped the lives of those students from Montfort Junior School, not to mention their teachers. We hope to be the very tool to propel learning and teaching in schools, and be the bridge between creativity and technology. What is currently happening in Montfort Junior School is by far a promising start!KooBitshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11008577951299729916noreply@blogger.com0
